Some Year 11 Movilla High School pupils attended an event which had over 70 post-primary pupils from across Ards and North Down took part in a Youth Entrepreneurship event at the Marine Court Hotel, Bangor on Thursday 16 November 2017.
Organised by Ards and North Down Borough Council to mark both Global Entrepreneurship Week and Social Enterprise Day, the ‘Better by Design’ workshop gave teams of pupils the opportunity to generate innovative ideas for their own product which could have a positive impact on society.
At this event students enjoyed planning, designing and creating a very basic prototype of their own product / service and presented their concepts to their peer group.
As well as developing a range of transferable skills, this workshop motivated, inspired and increased awareness of the importance of design thinking within product / service development and entrepreneurship.
Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Robert Adair, presented certificates to all of the participating students. He commented:
“I was extremely impressed by the high standard and ingenuity demonstrated by the pupils. I have no doubt that today was merely a starting point for the future business men and women of the borough.”
