Movilla High School has teamed up with the Northern Bank to provide students with a School Bank.
School Bank allows students to gain valuable financial experience by managing a real bank account both inside and outside the school environment, and provides access to a safe and secure savings scheme.
We believe that School Bank, in partnership with Northern Bank, is an ideal way to encourage financial awareness and help our young people to gain the skills, confidence and habits that will be valuable to them in adult life.
School Bank is run by pupils and supervised by a member of our teaching staff, along with a member of staff from the Northern Bank High Street Newtownards.
Each year we recruit pupils to the role of School Bank Advisor to help set up and run the School Bank. Potential School Bank Advisors are required to fill out an application form for the post, applications will then be short listed and those applicants that
are short listed will be interviewed for the position by Mrs Karayannis and the Northern Bank Branch Manager Mrs Elliott.
School Bank Advisors will learn more about managing money and gain experience in how to deal with customer queries.
School Bank is in operation every Tuesday lunch time in the canteen. It will be opened for the last twenty minutes of the first lunch for years 9 and 10 and the first twenty minutes of the second lunch for years 8, 11 and 12.
If any pupils are interested in setting up an account then simply come to the canteen on Tuesday lunch time and one of the School Bank staff will provide the forms required and explain the process.
