Dear Parent,
The Education Authority has confirmed that there will be strike action on Thursday 16th November by four non-teaching unions, UNISON, UNITE, NIPSA and GMB.
This will cause significant disruption to our school. For health and safety reasons, and due to challenges to our school meals service, we will close to all pupils on Thursday 16th November.
We have a number of pupils taking CCEA GCSE Mathematics unit examinations next week, and the Mathematics Department will make arrangements for them to come into class on Thursday morning for vital revision sessions. The Mathematics Department will communicate details of this directly to the pupils involved.
It is not possible to provide remote learning on this occasion due to advice from teaching unions. However, all pupils will have School Examinations at the end of this month and I know that they will value the time to organise and commence their revision schedule in preparation for these important assessments.
Free school meal pupils may access the canteen for lunch on Thursday. If you would like your child to avail of this provision, please telephone the school office before Thursday so that the limited number of staff available can prepare the appropriate number of meals.
School will resume as normal on Friday 17th November.
We understand that this will cause inconvenience, but we appreciate your understanding and support in this situation.
Dr Greer
Principal
